Thanks. But for some reason I don't think there's gonna be an abundance of ABT lying around here I wouldn't waste your time with it.
which is to say uh. artificial biological tissue fake skin
but I mean all the stuff underneath still seems to be working alright, which is good bc I know even less about what I'd need to fix all that
[ Do most people with automail limbs not have a clue how they work either, or is he painting himself out to be a real idiot right now? It's not his fault he woke up like this. ]
[......Uh. She's got only minimal experience with automail but she's 99% sure fake skin parts do not feature in the type she knows. But then again, what does she know about modern technological advancements? (Nothing, that's the answer.)
Setting aside "ABT" for now--]
I assume metal of some sort, and wiring. Unfortunately I never paid much attention to how automail parts were created back home.
Many people do alter their automail to have secondary functions as weapons, yes. I haven't seen ones that fire bullets personally, but hands that serve as pincers or blades are quite common.
but no I don't think it would really go with the whole skin thing. as cool as wolverine claws are they're supposed to really hurt... but I mean if I can't fix the skin thing I might as well make the most of it right?
Only for those who have lost limbs or those with enough funds and pain tolerance to afford additions to their person. Given the lifetime maintenance that comes with automail parts, along with the time required to gain functional use of those parts - usually around three years, if not more - it's not a popular choice for the average person.
[Not to scare you away or anything, Sigma. Though now she's curious.]
yikes... but I guess I'd rather go three years without good arms than the rest of my life, even if they need tune-ups.
Uh... I want to say about four months? it might have been shorter idk, honestly the time after I lost them is a huge blur, but when things get clear again they worked pretty well, and that was about four months.
[ Not entirely true, but probably the easiest way to put it. ]

[Mostly because he seemed 500 shades of cray and she's got no desire to engage in that. But:]
Dipper knows him. I'll ask for his name and some information. He didn't seem very generous on first impression though.
[Fair warning.]

Thanks for the help though, I really appreciate it.

[Which is....unspeakably bleak, all things considered, but that's how her mind operates, sorry.]
Do you know what kinds of materials you need? I can look in the meantime.

[She regrets it a little bit, now.]

yeah metal and wires aren't gonna help us much if they're not in the right shape...
so you had stuff like this? "automail"?

[None of this biological skin replacement whatever stuff.]
The prosthetics themselves are complicated enough, but the process of attaching them and relearning movement afterwards is very painful, I hear.

that's kind of crazy though. no offense or anything but I wouldn't expect you to be familiar with that kinda technology. it's new stuff even to me...
how's it different? can you get like guns for arms or something??
no subject
Why, are you interested?

is automail pretty common where you're from?

How long did it take to regain use of your arms?

technology's pretty crazy, huh?
